Dear Readers,
It is true that we all have spent 4-5 (some 4, some 5) years in our beloved Alma Mater which is CREC to some and NITC to others. This institution has evolved from its modest start to become a prestigious national-level institution through the years. It has seen so many ups and downs, and passed many a milestone on this tremendous journey. However, we, the alumni, who were lucky to have shared a part of its history, may not know what had happened before or after our course of study there.
Kattangal Chimes is offering you an opportunity to explore the history of CREC/NITC through a series of questions. If you don’t know the answers, do some research, call your friends, dig into the archives.
Here are the three questions for this volume:
- In which year did CREC become NITC? Who was the first director of NITC?
- In which year did CREC start admitting girl students? How many girls were there in that batch?
- The first hat-trick in a Ranji Trophy cricket final match is in the name of a fast bowler who is a CREC alumnus. Name him. Can you give details of the game (the year, venue, the finalist teams, and the winner?)
You get 2 points for each right answer. The second part of each question carries 1 bonus point. The points earned in each quiz get added together and the series winners will be announced after 5 volumes.
Send your answers to submissionsnitcaa@gmail.com
Winners’ names of this edition of quiz shall be announced in the next volume of Kattangal Chimes.
Exciting prizes await the winners, to be presented during WNM 2026 in Dubai.
Happy hunting.
Regards,
The Editorial Team
